Frequently asked questions

What are the biggest differences between ACA/Obamacare, Employer plans, and Private insurance?

ACA/Obamacare is best for those with pre-existing conditions or those needing maternity coverage. It's most affordable IF you get a government subsidy on the monthly premiums. If you aren't getting that discount, it is extremely expensive. These plans are mostly high premium/high deductibles because anyone can get on them.

Employer plans are GREAT for the employee because the employer is legally responsible to pay 50% of the employee's monthly premium. Unfortunately, prices increase drastically when a dependent or spouse are added on because they're not responsible for paying anything towards family add-ons.

Private insurance is health-based so there is an application process because not everyone may qualify based on health. Because you're healthy, you're getting a preferred rate so it is cheaper than most plans with BETTER coverage.

Do I only have the "open enrollment" time period to be able to set up health insurance?

When it comes to ACA/Obamacare options, the annual enrollment is from November 1st to December 15th. In certain states, it may extend until January 15th. However, if a qualifying life changing event takes place outside that time frame, a 60 day Special Enrollment window opens up to enroll on any of those plans.

When it comes to Private insurance, plans are available year-round!

Will Private Plans cover me anywhere I go?

Yes! Unlike other options, Private plans include nationwide coverage, covering you on and off the job. With major PPO networks, you aren't limited to your local area, giving you coverage no matter where you travel!

How expensive is Private Insurance?

Believe it or not, it’s quite affordable! Since private healthcare rates are determined by health rather than income, qualifying clients usually benefit from lower prices and superior coverage. Many save between $1200 and $3600 annually!

Is Health Insurance Contractual?

No, there are no contracts for any type of Health insurance, besides employer coverage. You can cancel any time for both the public and private health insurance plans.

Do you have other insurance plans?

Absolutely! I have Medical/Health, Dental, Vision, Life, Supplemental, Critical Illness, Income Protection (aka Short term disability).
